The union was established in 1984 to maintain and develop links between St Michael’s College and the past pupils of the school, it also provides all past pupils with the opportunity to maintain and develop contact with each other. The union is a strong supporter of the Flaming Sword Foundation which it established to provide support, financial or otherwise, to past pupils or their dependents who, due to unforeseen circumstances, may be in need of assistance or help.
The specific objectives of the Union are:
To bring together, through organisation, past students of St. Michael’s College, Ailesbury Road, Dublin and promote co-operation between them and the College.
To stimulate feelings of loyalty and friendship towards fellow past students.
To cherish and support St. Michael’s College which is a Catholic College under the direction of The Spiritan Order of Ireland (formerly known as The Holy Ghost Congregation).
To foster works of Christian charity.
